Dog poster Evalution

My role in my group was to create a DVD cover for my film; I used pictures I taken of our models. I made a front cover and a back cover; half of my cover was sadness of the dog’s life before our organisation, and one after when he is happy because they’ve helped him. This gives the audience a better understanding of the advert in general and what the whole thing is about, I made the background black and blue because I thought it was an appropriate theme to use for the cover.

I wrote the text on the back to give the idea of a classic DVD cover as to a professional one, in this text I talked about the dogs situation and what is needed for the campaign to work. We as a group used these images of the plasticine dogs to show how the dogs feel and the feeling of the general project's idea. i used the RSPCA logo on the cover the make it defiantly feel like a animal welfare campaign and to give affect to the cover.

I used the title of "RSPCA, if dogs could talk." For my motto, i used "if dogs could talk, what would they say?"if they were being abused. This sort of language reaches the audience to make them give sympathy and persuade them to donate money because the audience would imagine what they the dog would actually and they know it would be unpleasant and therefore they would find it in their nature to donate money to make them feel better and less responsible, this is because they will feel as though its their fault when they watch the campaign's advert.

I collaborated with Sophie to make sure what was needed and what wasn't. The others in my group modeled the dog character out of playdo at first, but the they realiszed plasticine was a better thing to use because its more steady. overall i think i worked ok together, although i think i could of have more direction on what to do.

Print and Publishing Blog 6/4/11

Introduction
This is some examples of some work which i have been doing in print and publishing, this is mainly me showing pieces of work i have done in certain sessions.

This is a piece of work made using illustrator, most of the characters where already created as a tutorial. I spent some time on the couple of characters on the left using the shape tool. In illustrator, unlike photo-shop, you use paths to create lines and fills for the colour. So it doesn't go pix-elated when you look at the image up close because of how the image has been made with vector tools on illustrator and not made in photo shop. This is the advantages of using illustrator rather than photo shop.

This is another piece of work I've made using illustrator, i mainly used the warp tool on illustrator to edit what i was given from the shared drive. I spent some time seeing what i could do with the tool to understand what it does and what i can use it for. I've learn't this tool is good for making images more interesting and can be useful to use when necessarily needed, before i used the tool on it, it was a picture of simple shapes. Unfortunately i cannot make the images any bigger because they are screen-shots.

This is mood-board i have also created in lesson, it's slightly pix-elated because its been made on photo-shop compared to illustrator. It is some work expressing my ideas on using skittles and what i can do and how i feel about it with my ideas. I didn't create the images myself, i gathered them from the internet to give me a wider idea of what i could do and what i can use.

In this project I’m writing a proposal about my product, skittles. I am aiming my skittles advertisement towards the target market of 5– 25 years and mostly from normal middle class backgrounds. To research my target audience market, I may need to use the Internet to research and gather my information I need to know about target markets. The idea of mine is to use a picture

of an open packet of skittles, with them scattering out onto the surface which would be white.

I may use the idea of skittles falling onto a hand because it adds the feel of human need to it, being a personal level of enjoyment. Being the hand catching the skittles makes it look more exciting to look at and has visual satisfaction too. This whole piece of work is going to be a poster campaign.

I have decided to use the words 'Feel the flavour" to play on the idea of the hand feeling the skittles, but also when you eat them, you'd "Feel the flavour". Someone could say that this advert has a 1950's/60's style to it, being that it looks like pop art because of its saturation i've added on photoshop.

I will be looking at other sweets advertising to get an idea on how to compare it to mine, looking at the style of how its been made as well as the fonts and the images.

This is my final idea for the project, i chose to use a hand to make it include two different objects at the same time. In this, with skittles falling from the packet onto the hand. I thought this would be a good idea because it would make it look magical and exciting with a fantasy style, as if they are falling in slow motion to make it appeal to my target audience as well as an interesting concept to use.
For this, I've contrasted strong colours to make it a stylized version of a real photograph. I think this works well because it fits well with the product placement.

This is the final copy of my finished poster .
With the background i decided to add a shade a light blue to set the mood its giving out, i aimed to create a mood of calmness to it because i thought it would be a suitable theme. I also decided to add this shade of blue because it gives a feel of sweetness and positiveness to it, i also think it suits because it gives it a feeling of energy being the topic is on sweets.

Induction Project Social Networking.

What is social networking?
Which are the most common
A little bit of history

Social networking has grown a lot over the years through the Internet. The Internet started social networking through sites such as bebo, MySpace and facebook. Other programs such as chat like msn focus mainly on chats rather than overall social networking. Social networking is basically a bunch of networks where people from anywhere can chat, and share their lives.

Facebook is the most dominant site; it is said that in July 2010, facebook had more 500 million members worldwide. Mark Zuckerburg founded Facebook in 2004 when he was in university and at first fellow students mainly used the site.
But after a while it grew to other universities and eventually for anyone over the age of 13.

Positives:
It can bring people from one side of the world to another.

Relief prints

· Relief Printing is when the ink sticks to the material your printing on, and when the section that isn’t being printed into the material is cut out of the matrix to make gaps between the paper and the matrix. Majority are done in black, although you can use other colours of which can work just as well.

· Intaglio acts the opposite to relief printing; the parts of the matrix that is printing stick out for the print rather than stay inwards. So the thing that is being printed on sticks out more to create effect. Here is an example of an intaglio print such as money printing.

· Plano graphic printing is done in a different way to relief and intaglio, it is done by mainly using water or light to make an image, therefore it is done in a simple way, and it is basic printing. It works on a principle that oil doesn’t mix with water.

· Stencil print is where you cut out the black parts of the image to form a print.

This is my dry point plate. it came out a bit blurred, so to solve this problem and to make it more noticeable i also adjusted the brightness so you can see more of the image. I didn't get to do a print because i was a bit behind. Next time i will be more up to scratch with my work.
